Layaway Plans

Burlington Coat Factory and Baby Depot are owned by the same company, but not all locations offer layaway. Burlington Coat Factory has had a layaway program in place since 1972.

At Burlington Coat Factory, the layaway term is 60 days (a recent increase from 30 days). A 20 percent deposit is due at the time of purchase. Another 20 percent payment is due in 14 days. The rest is due upon pickup. There is a nonrefundable $5 service charge, and if you change the layaway in any way, a $5 “cancellation fee” is charged. No cash refunds are given, but shoppers may be able to convert the fees to a gift card. Also, “Customers returning merchandise after completion of layaway will receive a gift card, not a refund.”

The rules are the same for Baby Depot, except the layaway period extends to 90 days.
